More Love for (F)light!

10 March 2010

Wow, this is certainly a pleasant surprise!

I ended up winning Best In Show for the Epiphany Children’s Film Festival! How freakin’ cool! And it even comes with monetary compensation. Of which goes directly into student loans.

Ah well. Perhaps maybe a little to celebrate.

Either way, very pleased with this! Now to actually get some 3D work done this weekend, update my pathetically old reel, and perhaps find a real lighting job for myself. One can hope, eh?

Demo Reel and Other Things

27 January 2010

Demo Reel 2009 from Kelly Mermelstein on Vimeo.

My demo reel as of 2009. I know it needs plenty and plenty of updates, but it’s certainly a beginning. All have to start somewhere, eh?

Anyways, comments and criticism is muchly appreciated. I know there’s nothing terribly new on it, but it can’t hurt to ask.

As far as site stuff goes? It’s basically done, likely with lots of tweaking and tinkering in the future. If anyone sees something glaring let me know. Other than that, I know lots of things still look weird, halfassed and lazy, and I’ll get to those. Eventually. Yes.

Either way, have a new project in mind. After watching lots of Carnivale (a series that sadly met its demise way too early on), and been sort of on a Dustbowl/30s Depression Era kick lately, so I have ideas for a new piece. Here’s to hoping I can get it off the ground now that I’m essentially done here. Here’s hoping!

I also realize I’m very nocturnal. Can’t wait to see the range of posts and times I end up using. I’m sure there’s a widget somewhere to figure that all out for me. For my first time dealing with WordPress, I actually quite like.
